Down & Derby: With the Ma-Scott (May 29th Bout)
I’m saying it…those Cincinnati Rollergirls are bad-asses! Another Saturday at the Gardens, another two wins from our hometown girls.
It was unbearably hot in the Gardens on Saturday, and your good friend Wooly Bully sweated off about 20 pounds. Before the bout, the Cincinnati Woman Bloggers got together for some tailgating and merriment. Even Cafe de Wheels, the food truck with some of the most delicious burgers in town was there!
The first game was our Cincinnati Silent Lambs vs. The Gem City Rollergirls from Dayton. I know at least one of our of our rollergirls used to play for Dayton and had the best quote I’ve ever seen. Poppy Chulo said about playing against her old team, “Tonight will be like seeing an ex, except now I’m dating someone way hotter than them and while I look better, they just got fat.” Well said, Poppy.
This game started off with some serious blocking. Celia Graves brought out her “Body Count Tombstone” and had 26 knock outs. And, I’m giving a special blocking shout-out to Ruff’n the Passer who kicked some serious butt having just come off maternity leave! There was a flurry of jammer action with Wheezy, Hop Devil, Miss Print Pistol Whippin’ Wendy and Bex Pistol literally skating laps around the other team. In the end, it was a blowout. The Lambs won 112 to 53.
The second bout started out slowly till Hannah Ouchocinco threw on the jammer panty and scored a 20 point jam. It was her first roll back from having surgery on her finger. If you’re counting now, that’s one back from surgery and one back from giving birth! If you ever say these girls aren’t badass…they’ll kick you in the face! K Lethal was also back at the Jammer position after missing the last game. With Hannah, K Lethal and Sadistic Sadie scoring like made and Nuk’em, Trauma and Sk8 Crime knocking people to the floor left and right the team had no trouble keeping the lead.
In the end, the Black Sheep handed the North Star Supernovas a severe beating 119 to 50 to raise their record to 7 and 1.
On a unhappy note, a lot of you have read about and seen stories on TV about one of our favorite rollergirls, Sadistic Sadie. If you want to read the stories about her you can find them online, I’m not going to talk about them. I’ve gotten to know Sadie a little bit over this season, and regardless of what’s happened in her life, I’ve known nothing but a sweet, funny gracious woman and teammate. What’s going on is a shame, but it will not change the way I feel about her. I haven’t been around derby long, but I will always see Sadistic Sadie as the captain. And, I wish her nothing but good luck in whatever happens, and I hope I see her skating around the Gardens again soon.

It was a great night to be at the Gardens. We cheered so much I almost lost my voice!
The Cincinnati Women Bloggers will def. be back!
