I’m a huge fan of history. I’m also a huge fan of social media, it pays my bills. Today while goofing about on the Internet I discovered an excellent convergence of the two. It seems that WEBN has an extensive channel on YouTube,WEBNVideo. With a little digging there are some historical gems like this one.

For more on this tragedy, check out this article I wrote on the 30th anniversary last December: http://bit.ly/whoconcert. The blog we set up for people to share their memories http://cincinnati.com/blogs/whoconcert/) is a must-read.
We still feel the effects of what happened that night today.
Thanks for the reminder.
@Lauren Thanks for the links, they are a great coda to this post. In return let me shar with you this piece written by one of the bloggers on our sister blog in New Orleans: “A Case of History Repeating Itself…”

@Classicgrrl Some things stay with you forever and become a part of the fabric of your community. This is one of those instances for Cincinnati.
I was going to take a cheap shot at WEBN having no value except as a historical archive but why bother?
Anyway, one kid in the clip you posted said the police were of no help or worse – I distinctly remember a cop wanting to open another turnstile & his offer being refused by an usher supervisor. The staff was clueless. I would say the only thing the police did wrong was to let the staff carry on & not shove ‘em out of the way & take over.
