The Big “Hello”.

Friends, Neighbors, Northsiders…  All those whose homes and lives converge in this great winding love affair of brick, steel, concrete and glass…

Hello on behalf of those who scoot between the lines and lanes of this great city. My name is Lew Ross and I have been overfond of time on my skateboard for over two thirds of my life.  Through CincyVoices I hope to bring you perspectives on skateboarding from those who practice this crazy performance art (could we be likened to clowns? carnies? gypsies?), as well as those outside the confrerie of practitioners.

Here you will find snippets of my thoughts, insights from the skateboarding community, and voices about skateboarding from those who witness it. I am the owner of FickleBoards Ltd., a fast-growing skateboard-supply company, and have been a part of the community of Greater Cincinnati for over a decade, settling in Northside in May of 2004.  I chair the Northside Community Council’s Skatepark Development Committee, and am always on the hunt for those who share the vision for our site at Colerain/Virginia/West Fork.

Here’s to looking forward to an urban legacy–Cincinnati’s first Metro-accessible skatepark! Here’s to the diversity of the skateboarding community, and of Northside, a pioneering community within a city that lies too often so far behind the wave.  I look forward to serving as a voice, as eyes and ears, and to doing my part to build and equip a team that can make these dreams a reality!
