Yes, it does seem to be Kroger Meats on the good side and Kroger grocery stores on the other. That's the trouble with this discussion, it can get confusing due to the shared names.

I was horrified last week when I happened to catch a commercial on WLWT-5 during the 7AM hour. It was a Kroger commercial, two housewives chatting over coffee, one saying to the other, "Those farmers' markets are so expensive!", and then the commercial went on to show Kroger's current specials.

Kroger should be ashamed. Can't they pick on someone their own size? I think the pricing comment is unfair and untrue, their organics are way more expensive than a farmers' market, not even considering Kroger's huge carbon footprints!

Enough can not be said about buying locally. The tastes is always better and contributing to the local economy is cool too. I don't see a down side.

An interesting note about Kroeger Meats: I went there when I first got to town and discovered they carry andouille (the preferred sausage for gumbo and jambalaya). I tried some, not expecting much, nad was pleasantly surprised. When I asked the girl at the counter about it she said that their guy who makes it is from Alexandria in Louisiana.

So there you have it, a bit of trivia. Kroeger Meats does authentic andouille. Take it from a New Orleans transplant!
